Snow and Judaism

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at The Evergreen State College Olympia Campus, the group of Jewish students known as the Hillel Club held a celebration, with songs of peace that were recited in Hebrew. Several passers by joined in for dancing and singing, along with others playing in the snow pouring down from the sky. This celebration of peace was in response to what the Hillel Club felt was a misconception of the Hebrew language as a "language of abuse" in artist statement at an exhibit that was put up in the Flaming Eggplant for the past month or so. There was a panel meeting with speakers from different Jewish backgrounds speaking in the lecture hall, during the songs, discussing the art exhibit in question. About 40+ students attended both events.
